Jeff Buckley Live At Sin-é (Legacy Edition)
Monday Live Album
Recorded in 1993, the album was initially released as a four-song EP. Fortunately, in 2007, we were blessed with the expanded recordings, known as the Legacy Edition.
The album was recorded at Sin-é Coffeehouse in New York City, an iconic venue that has hosted numerous legendary performers, such as The Waterboys, Allen Ginsberg, Shane MacGowan, Sinéad O’Connor, Marianne Faithfull, and Lana Del Rey (Lizzy Grant).
The intimate gigs, which incidentally took place over a few Monday nights, saw Buckley armed with only a telecaster, delivering raw and honest performances that will definitely pull on the heartstrings for some. You can feel the room.
Buckley takes us on a musical journey and showcases his influences with covers of Led Zeppelin, Nina Simone, Van Morrison, Billy Holiday, Bob Dylan and of course Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. We’re still not sure who did it better!
To be honest, I would have this Monday night out as a regular thing with a bottle of red wine, great company and tunes. Even if the weirdos show up.
Sin-é Coffeehouse, which had reincarnated itself in various venues over the years, ultimately succumbed to the double-edged sword of gentrification in 2007.
